Miva Star of the Week: Babajide Emmanuel Ogunkoya

At Miva Open University, we are dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students who not only excel academically but also inspire, with their unique experiences and passions. This week, we shine the spotlight on Babajide Emmanuel Ogunkoya, our Miva Star of the Week. Babajide, a dedicated student in the Business Management Department, has demonstrated exceptional commitment to his studies and a remarkable ability to balance work, education, and leadership roles. Here’s a glimpse into his journey and what makes him stand out.

When asked why he chose to study Business Management at Miva, Babajide shared, “I’d say my passion for the business world and being the only guy amongst a group of boys who all happen to be tech-inclined” was a significant factor. He explained his decision further, saying, “I decided to focus on the business world and let the others conquer the tech space.” His choice was influenced by a deep-seated interest in the business domain, combined with a desire to forge his path.

Babajide also mentioned his inspiration, stating, “It’s a very amazing thing learning the ropes of the business world from a mother and a mentor.” This personal connection has fueled his commitment to his studies and professional development.

In our conversation, Babajide was candid about his experience with online learning. He noted, “Post COVID, I have been sold to taking classes online and I was also part of the design team for a school’s virtual class during the COVID Lockdown.” His adaptability to the online learning environment has been a significant advantage, allowing him to thrive.

Babajide’s role as the Course Representative for the Business Management Department, alongside his responsibilities as the Lead Administrative Personnel in a Montessori School, is no small feat. He shared, “My coursemates have been really understanding. They understand my schedule and they work with me to have a seamless transition between work and my obligations to the department.” His ability to balance these demanding roles is a testament to his exceptional organizational skills and dedication.

When asked about his work-life-study balance, Babajide reflected, “Balancing study with personal and work life hasn’t been funny but I believe in the words of Optimus Prime: No Sacrifice, No Victory.” This mindset underscores his commitment to achieving his goals, no matter the challenges.

Babajide is also passionate about “creativity within workspace,” describing himself as a “dreamer.” His enthusiasm for creative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking is evident in his approach to both his studies and professional life.

On the subject of studying, Babajide revealed, “I study alongside my coursemates twice on weekdays and we plan to commence our weekend review sessions this Saturday.” He values collaborative learning and the support of his peers, which enhances his educational experience.

Babajide’s advice for those considering enrolling at Miva Open University is both practical and encouraging. He remarked, “Miva offers you the best hybrid form of education… no other institution in Nigeria offers the same value at the same rate.” He emphasized the importance of determination and focus, stating, “If you are determined and focused on getting the best, sure Miva will give you that. But if you are lazy, then you will get exposed.”

Babajide Emmanuel Ogunkoya’s journey is a powerful reminder of the impact of dedication, creativity, and community in achieving one’s goals. We are proud to have him as part of the Miva family and can’t wait to see where his ambitions take him next.
