On 31st August 2023, the National Universities Commission (NUC) concluded the Resource Verification exercise for eight (8) programmes spread across two (2) schools/faculties at Miva Open University.
The exercise was aimed at inspecting the resources (human and physical) available in the university preparatory to the institutions’ admission process for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The schools and programmes inspected include:
School of Computing –
(ii) Cybersecurity,
(iii) Data Science and
(iv) Software Engineering; and
School of Management & Social Sciences –
(i) Accounting,
(ii) Business Management,
(iii) Economics, and
(iv) Public Policy & Administration.
During the entry meeting, the NUC representatives accompanied by the NUC Acting Executive Secretary – Chris J. Maiyaki, and the NUC Acting Director, Academic Planning – Malam A.M. Girei were warmly received by the Chancellor and visionary founder – Sim Bala Shagaya; the Vice Chancellor – Prof Oladiran Tayo Arulogun; the Registrar & Director of Accreditation – Iheanyi Akwitti, the Director, Academic Planning – Prof. Jude Chukwu; Deans of faculty, heads of departments, Professors and other top functionaries of the university.
Resources inspected include the Studios for production of course materials, Learning Management System (LMS), Learner’s support services unit, IT facilities, e-library, physical library, Hardware laboratory, Network laboratory, Digital logic laboratory, Software laboratory, Cybernetic workshop, Data science laboratory, Econometrics laboratory, Lecture halls with projector screens, offices of the Deans, the Director of Academic Planning, Professors, HODs, faculty members, and the Guidance & Counselling unit among others.
During the exit report meeting, the NUC team members applauded MIVA Open University management’s warm reception, felicitations, hospitality and the unalloyed cooperation extended to them throughout the exercise. In their closing remarks, the Chancellor and Visionary founder of MIVA Open University – Sim Shagaya; the Vice Chancellor – Prof. Oladiran Tayo Arulogun and Registrar – Iheanyi Akwitti commended the team for their thoroughness and expert advice.
