About the Speaker
Prof Idowu is a Professor of Healthcare Leadership and Strategy. Professor Idowu worked at Oxford Business College UK, University of Essex UK, University of Bradford UK, University of Dundee Scotland UK, Open University UK, Anglia Ruskin University UK, University of Brighton UK, London South Bank University UK, University of London UK, National Health Service (NHS) UK just to mention a few. He has significant public sector professional experiences, with almost 40 years of managing and developing a range of diverse and complex healthcare services, education, and staff development in the higher education institutions in the UK, health services in the United Kingdom and Qatar health services.
In the UK, he has also worked as an independent management consultant in Primary Care Trusts in London and West Midlands. In these roles, he undertook, and managed projects concerned with healthcare reform for managing long-term conditions. Having worked in the capacity of Chief Academic Officer, Deputy Dean of School of Health Sciences, Clinical Director, Head of School, Head of Department, and Senior Lecturer, Prof Idowu has gained wide experiences in the field of education, management and leading a multidisciplinary team of academics and clinical professionals. During these times, he fully appreciated and participated in joint working and partnerships with other international organizations.
As a researcher, Prof Idowu focuses on issues of organization, performance, leadership and healthcare ethics. Currently, Prof Idowu’s research examines organizational culture theory and the determinants of workplace performance in the healthcare organization. In particular, he is interested in the implications and applications of these determinants in organizational behaviour and performance. He is also interested in the theme of the ‘dominant organizational logic’ as a means of understanding the relationship between organizational culture and organizational performance.
Prof Idowu is passionate about pedagogy with an outstanding track record in teaching and management. He is committed to providing high-quality teaching that ensures students take an active role in their learning, in addition to identifying opportunities for improvement of the student experiences. He thrives in the invigoration of effective learning tools and the inception of new models for learning and assessment. He has a wide range of teaching and teaching-related experiences across the key areas of leadership, philosophy of medicine and research methodologies. Prof Idowu was appointed distinguished professor at MIVA Open University in 2024 Nigeria, Honorary Professor at Nexus International University Uganda and Respected Honorary Professor at Oxford International College India.
